Sandrine Atabong

Founder and Executive Director

Sandrine Atabong is the Founder and Executive Director of Women in Humanitarian Dynamics (WIHD). She is an interdisciplinary research practitioner whose work sits at the intersection of entrepreneurship, information technology, and human rights. Her academic and professional journey is deeply rooted in a lifelong commitment to equity and community development, values shaped by her early exposure to public service through her mother’s leadership in Cameroon’s Ministry of Social and Women’s Affairs, a foundation which has continued to inform her advocacy and inclusive leadership approach.

She holds degrees in Law, Human Rights, and Humanitarian Action, and has served in both academic and public institutions, including the Center for Social Affairs and the National Commission for Human Rights and Freedoms in Yaoundé, Cameroon. Her work in these roles focused on social policy, institutional reform, and the protection of vulnerable populations.

Now based in the United States, Sandrine holds an MBA in Information Technology Management and is currently a Ph.D. Candidate in Business Information Technology at Virginia Tech. Her research focuses on the ethical use of data science tools such as artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to advance equity for marginalized communities, with particular emphasis on e-commerce, entrepreneurship and disaster recovery.
